Tow Truck Stolen From Police Impound Lot

Police caught up to alleged thief about a mile away

A Philadelphia Police source says someone took a police tow truck from a police lot Friday morning.

The alleged thief took the truck around 10:30 a.m. from the police impound lot at 3901 Whitaker Avenue in teh city's  Hunting Park section.

Cops caught up to the truck, which has "G 5" on the roof, about a mile away at 4300 block of Bennington Street in the city’s Juniata Park section, according to police.

Chopper 10 captured officers and police cruisers surrounding the tow truck in the middle of the block. eventually another police tow truck came and towed it away.

Police had a suspect in custody but no charges were filed as of 4 p.m.
