Police Search for Hit & Run Driver

The search for a hit and run driver who gathered up broken car pieces but left the victim on the side of the road continues.

A passerby discovered Joseph Wilno lying unconscious in the snow on West Marlton Pike near Cropwell Road in Evesham Township Monday.

Evidence at the scene indicated the 33-year-old was struck by a car that left the scene, according to police.

Officials say whoever hit Wilno may have stopped to gather broken parts from the damaged car after the crash, before fleeing the scene. No 911 call was made.

Wilno, who is currently recovering from his injuries, was recently diagnosed with stomach cancer, said Stephanie Wilno, the vicim's sister.

Detectives are asking for the public's help locating the suspect.

Sadly this is not the first time the Wilno family experienced an unexpected tragedy.  In 2008, when the victim's brother, Ryan Wilno, returned from a stint in Iraq, the patriarch of the family suffered a heart attack and died
