Police Find Car in Birthday Hit-and-Run

While there is a person of interest, there have been no arrests in fatal accident case

Philadelphia Police say they have found the car that hit and killed a 28-year-old man on his birthday Sunday.

There have been no arrests in the case yet.

William McCue of East Thompson Street in Philadelphia was struck and killed in Port Richmond early Sunday morning.

Police say they have a person of interest in the case, but they have yet to release a name.

McCue was hit on Richmond Street near E. Sergeant Street.  Relatives say McCue was out celebrating with friends for his birthday and decided to walk home by himself.

Investigators believe the victim was on top of the striking vehicle's hood for fifty feet before rolling down on to the road. He was transported to Hahnemann Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Family members say McCue's mother died two months ago.

"It's really hard for us to understand," Kate Zolk, McCue's Aunt, said. "I just hope they understand who they took away from us and that they can find the compassion and heart to come forward."

Relatives and friends gathered Sunday night of a candlelight vigil at the place where McCue was hit.

"He was taking care of his family, that's what he was doing after his mom died. He stood up, he stood up to the plate," Michael McCausland said.
