Police Say Child Begs Drunk Mom Not to Drive

An 8-year-old girl jumps out of her mother's minivan and begs her not to drive, according to Pottstown Police.

A Pottstown woman was arrested for driving under the influence after she allegedly crashed her vehicle into several parked cars while her child was sitting in the front seat.

Pottstown Police say Keilana Scurry, 35, was arrested after officers heard her 8-year-old daughter yelling "No, no! Don't drive anymore, we are going to get into another accident."

According to an arrest affidavit, police located Scurry trying to park her minivan on the 300 block of Union Alley around 10:30 p.m. on February 25th, after witnesses reported that the minivan had hit two parked cars on Lincoln Avenue and left the scene.

The child had exited the minivan and was yelling at her mother to stop driving when officers arrived, according to police.

Scurry was charged with endangering the welfare of children, driving under the influence, recklessly endangering another person and traffic violations.

She was released on $10,000 unsecured bail pending a preliminary hearing scheduled for March 7th.
