Police Release Sketch of Alleged Rapist

Police released a sketch of a man accused of sexually assaulting three women in Camden.

Police released a sketch of a man who they say is responsible for three sexual assaults in Camden over the past three weeks.

The suspect assaulted three females ranging in age from their teens to early 20s, according to investigators. Police say all three assaults occurred in the area of Farnham Park at Park Avenue and Baird Boulevard between 3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.

A fourth assault was also reported but police say it was proven to be unfounded after further investigation.

The latest assault happened on Saturday, February 11, according to Camden Police. A 16-year-old girl was walking to meet a friend during the day near Camden High School when the suspect approached her, according to investigators.

"I thank God that this guy did not kill my daughter," said the girl's mother. "Before she even reached toward the school, that's when the guy came out from nowhere and grabbed her from behind and had his hand over her face."

Police say the man then shoved the girl into a wooded area in Farnham Park.

"He punched her, both jaws and her lip," the victim's mother told NBC10. "And he raped her."

The mother says her daughter saw a gun in the attacker's hands and was also threatened with a knife. After taking her clothes and assaulting her, she says the suspect forced her daughter to walk several blocks before finally letting her go.

"I just don't want the next child to get hurt like my daughter did," said the woman.

Police released a sketch of the suspect on Saturday. He is described as a black male between the ages of 20 and 30, standing 5-foot-7 to 6-feet tall, with light-brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt. He is considered armed and dangerous.

As the investigation continues, police recommend women walking in Camden to exercise caution. Women should avoid walking alone when possible. If alone, police say women should not wear ear  buds or earphones while walking, avoid taking shortcuts through deserted places and stay in well-lit areas. If it appears a person is following, police say women should go to the nearest home or business and call police.

Anyone with information on the identity of the suspect should call Camden Police at 856-757-7042.
