Police Recreate Boy's Dragging

No charges have been filed against the unlicensed teen driver

Thomas White is still shaken by the loss of his young son, Tommy.

"I'm lost," said White.

It’s been two weeks since the 9-year-old was struck while riding his electric scooter on the 2500 block of Jessup Street in Wilmington, Del., and White says he still has nightmares about the accident.

“Our child is gone and the killer is still walking the streets,” White said.

Four teens were in the car that struck Tommy, dragging him for five blocks. After realizing what had happened, witnesses who tried to lift the car off the little boy, told police the teens fled the scene. Investigators did eventuallly question the driver and passengers.

The 16-year-old driver has not been charged. She was driving without a license, according to police.

“She hit our child, dragged our child, seen our child was trapped under the car, and then fled,” White said. “This is a murder and it should be dealt with as such.”

Traffic officers recreated the fatality on Wednesday after reviewing the surveillance video and say they're continuing to investigate the accident.
