Police Recover Joe Paterno Sign

Police say a Paternoville marker stolen from the football stadium has been recovered.

Penn State police say the Paternoville marker has been recovered, about a week after it was taken from outside the university's football stadium.

A university spokeswoman said Wednesday the sign was found in recent days, a suspect's been identified and charges are expected.

A surveillance camera showed a car doing about $23,000 in damage to stadium gates, grass and two signs, including the Paternoville sign.

Paternoville is a tent camping area outside the stadium where students assemble to get the best seats for home football games.

It's named for Joe Paterno, the longtime head coach who died in January, two months after the Board of Trustees fired him in the wake of child sexual abuse charges being filed against former assistant Jerry Sandusky. Sandusky denies the allegations and awaits trial.
