Officer Fires Shot in South Philly

One suspect is in custody and a second is still on the loose in a police involved shooting that happened in a South Philly neighborhood late Friday morning.

Police said they responded to reports of a person with a gun near 25th and Jackson streets in the West Passyunk section of the city around 9:15 a.m.

An officer fired a shot at the scene, which is about a block away from Vare Edwin H Middle School and Wilson Park. Officials said no one was hit, but a UPS truck was struck by a ricocheted bullet.

Authorities apprehended one suspect and recovered a gun. Police are searching for a second man, who fled into the nearby park.
