Shopper Shot, Killed in Front of Wife

Police have found the SUV taken in a carjacking and shooting death of a lawyer who had finished holiday shopping with his wife at an upscale mall in North Jersey.

Newark Police Director Samuel DeMaio says police recovered the silver Range Rover in the southern part of city Monday.

Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray says the shooting happened around 9 p.m. in a parking deck at the Mall of Short Hills -- about eight miles from Newark -- when two men confronted a couple returning to their vehicle on the third floor of a parking deck.

Murray says the husband, a 30-year-old Hudson County resident Dustin Friedland was shot once in the head before the men took off in his silver 2012 silver Range Rover with NJ plates U26-BVD.

A statement from the prosecutor's office later Sunday said that Friedland, a Hoboken lawyer, the man was pronounced dead at Morristown Medical Center at 11:45 p.m.

The man's wife was also taken to the hospital but wasn't seriously hurt, according to NBC4 New York.

A 410,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest. Anyone who knows information about the incident should call 911.
