Hit-and-Run Victim Dies in Mom's Arms: Cops

Police in Bristol Township are investigating a fatal hit-and-run accident.

"It was just a feeling that I knew. I pulled over and I said 'oh my God, that's my son.'"

Michelle Beck experienced every mother's worst nightmare early Sunday morning. Her 36-year-old son Eric Beck was celebrating a friend's birthday with his four younger brothers at a bar in Levittown when tragedy struck.

Around midnight, police say Eric began walking to a local drug store to meet his mother for a ride home. Michelle says she was speaking with her son when the phone suddenly went dead. By the time she drove around the corner on Holly Drive and New Falls road, she spotted her son lying on the pavement.

Eric was struck by a vehicle which quickly fled the scene, according to police. Once she spotted her son, Michelle rushed toward him.

"I was rubbing his hair and I touched him," said Michelle. "I said 'Eric,' and he said 'Mom, squeeze my hand.' That was it, that's all he said to me."

Eric died in his mother's arms before emergency crews arrived.

Police say Eric was struck by a dark-colored or black Audi. They also say the vehicle has damage to the front, end and rear view mirror. So far no arrests have been made.

"I wouldn't do that to anybody's child," said Michelle. "You just don't do that to anybody. You just don't let anybody just lay there in the road and take off. You stop and find out what is going on if you have any kind of compassion."

New Falls Road was closed between Levittown Parkway and Appletree Pass while police investigated the accident, but it has since reopened.
