Alleged Sexual Assault at Penn Frat

Incident happened at unregistered party

A University of Pennsylvania fraternity is being investigated after a student claimed she was sexually assaulted at a house party over the weekend.

The 20-year old student told police that the incident happened just after 2 a.m. Saturday at the Phi Kappa Sigma house along Locust Walk in University City.

"The allegation is that it occurred during a party," Philadelphia Police Lt. Frank Vanore said Tuesday. "The victim is being interviewed by police.  There are several witnesses that police are interviewing."

The suspect is not believed to be a Penn student or a member of the fraternity, but may attend another local university, police sources said. University staff said there is no immediate danger to the rest of the community.

The party was not registered with the school, which is a typical policy for Greek organizations at the university, according to UPenn officials. Fraternity members are cooperating with the investigation, according to The Daily Pennsylvanian.

Officials from Phi Kappa Sigma have not responded to requests for comment.
