Two officers from the Philadelphia Police Department's 1st District were injured in an accident overnight.
At about 1:40 a.m. early Saturday, police were responding to a call for backup at 1900 Dudley Street when they were reardended by a minivan.
The police car was marked and its sirens and lights were flashing at the time.
The officers suffered head, back and neck injuries. They were taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania for treatment. Both are in stable condition.
The driver of the minivan was arrested at 21st and Snyder. It was unclear what charges they were arrested on.
The driver was taken to Methodist Hospital and released.
