Woman Dies Week After Being Struck by Police Car in Kensington Park: Philly Police

Police say a woman struck by a reversing Philadelphia police car northeast of the city's downtown area last week has died.

A police spokeswoman said two officers in a marked radio patrol car were conducting an investigation at a park along the 3000 block of F Street in the Kensington neighborhood just before 4:30 p.m. on April 18 when the driver put the car in reverse and struck a woman behind the vehicle.

Police said the officers got out of the vehicle, put the woman into their vehicle and took her to Temple University Hospital, where she was listed in critical condition.

Police said 40-year-old Michelle Kolk died of her injuries just after 5 p.m. Tuesday.

The accident and the initial incident that caused the police investigation remained under investigation Wednesday.
