Car Sideswipes Police Car in Center City, Hurts Officer

A car sideswiped a police car in Center City this morning sending one person to the hospital.

According to Philadelphia Police, a Nissan Altima crashed into the police cruiser at 30 S 17th Street -- that is between Market and Chestnut Streets around 8:15 a.m.

The crash landed the female officer in Hahnemann Hospital where she was expected to be treated and released for undisclosed injuries, according to police.

The driver of the Altima wasn't hurt. The driver stopped and was cooperating with the investigation, which remained ongoing.

The Altima had some visible front-end damage.

It’s unclear if dense fog blanketing the city Wednesday morning played a role in the wreck.
