Police Bust Up Alleged Cockfighting Ring

Something fowl was uncovered Friday night in the Feltonville section of Philadelphia.

Officials busted an alleged cockfighting ring at a home on the 200 block of W Louden St.

Police stopped a cockfight in progress, according to sources.

15 people were arrested and face charges ranging from cruelty to animals to lesser charges.

Dozens of roosters were taken from the property in bags.

Animal control agents removed 58 birds from a Feltonville home after making the discovery, according to Heather Redfern with the PSPCA.

Among to confiscated birds are hens, roosters and cockatiels, said Redfern. The roosters were dressed for fighting, she said.

The birds are currently being held at an animal shelter.

No further details have been released about the cockfighting ring or any of the accused perpetrators.
