Philly's Bacon Gets Golden

Kevin Bacon can add "Golden-Globe winning actor" to his six degrees of seperation.

Winning the prize for outstanding actor in a TV movie for HBO's “Taking Chance” was a good way to start the new year for one of Philly’s favorite sons.

The man who has seemingly worked with nearly everyone in Hollywood finally won his first major award Sunday night. He was previously nominated for a Golden Globe for his 1994 performance in the River Wild.

The veteran actor who -- along with actress-wife Kyra Sedgwick -- was among the many victims last year of the massive Ponzi scheme run by financier Bernard Madoff seemed ready to put last year behind him.

“It's a very nice way to kiss 2009 goodbye,'' he said smirking backstage.

Bacon still has ties to the Philly area and recently performed with his brother Michael as the Bacon Brothers at a benefit to raise money for the Mummers.
