Montgomery County Prosecutor Adds “Comfort Dog” to Her Staff

A suburban Philadelphia prosecutor is adding to her staff, although the new hire won't be arguing in court.

A 2-year-old Labrador named "Turks" will pad the courthouse floors to serve as a “comfort dog” for victims and witnesses.

Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman says the pooch can help soothe the stress of testifying about traumatic events.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that Turks is coming on board through Canine Partners for Life. The Chester County group trains service and therapy dogs.
