Philly Police Officer Arrested for Allegedly Assaulting Girlfriend

A Philadelphia Police officer was arrested Wednesday for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend in October.

Police say that Lt. Marques Newsome, 35, was arrested after he physically assaulted his girlfriend during an argument while he was off-duty on October 27.

Newsome, a 16-year veteran of the department, is facing multiple charges including aggravated and simple assault.

Philadelphia Police Commissioner Charles H. Ramsey has suspended Newsome for thirty days with
the intent to dismiss.
