Philly Neighborhood Is a Danger Zone: Study

N. Philly neighbor is 6th most dangerous, study says

A Philadelphia neighborhood is ranked one of the most dangerous in the country.

While the neighborhood surrounding N 13th Street didn’t take the top spot, it isn’t far behind, reports AOL blog WalletPop.

Ranked No. 6, on the list of the 25 most dangerous, N 13th Street has about 488 violent crimes annually. One’s chance of becoming the victim of a violent crime in a year’s time is one in nine, according to the blog.

The list was compiled by Dr. Andrew Schiller at NeighborhoodScout.com using FBI information collected from 17,000 local law enforcement agencies.

If Philly’s ranking on the 25 Most Dangerous Neighborhoods makes you want to pick up and relocate, here are the neighborhoods you shouldn’t move to:

At No. 5, Carter Street in Atlanta, Ga. has a predicted violent crime rate of 118. The neighborhoods of North 28th Street and Balzar Avenue in Las Vegas come in at No. 3 and No. 4.

Topping last year’s list is the area surrounding Scovill Avenue in Cleveland, Ohio. The Cleveland neighborhood did drop one spot this year, but the violent crime rate per 1,000 residents is 165.56.

And West Lake Street in Chicago, Ill. came in as the most dangerous neighborhood in the United States.
