Philly Cop Arrested for Drunk Driving

A Philadelphia police officer was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly driving while drunk on Nov. 7.

Officer William Haviland, 42, allegedly drove his police vehicle while under the influence after drinking inside a bar on the 7100 block of Torresdale Avenue.

Haviland, a seven-year veteran in the 26th District, was on duty at the time.

The Department’s Internal Affairs Bureau and the Philadeplhia District Attorney’s Office investigated the case.

Haviland is charged with driving under the influence, reckless endangerment and other related charges.

Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey has suspended Haviland for 30 days with intent to dismiss.
