Philly Company Selling Water To Help Others Around the World

Human Kind Water says it's a different type of bottled water company, with 100 percent of their net-profits going to solve the clean drinking water crisis

March 22 is World Water Day, a day that brings to light the fact that almost a billion people in the world have no access to clean drinking water. One local company says it is looking to change that.

Human Kind Water, founded by T.J. Foltz and located in Philadelphia’s Overbrook section, wants your help.

At its core, Human Kind Water is a company that sells bottled water from protected springs in the hills of central Pennsylvania. We all read and hear about “natural” spring water, but what does that mean? Water quality and purity is measured by TDS (Total Dissolved Solids), and Human Kind has a TDS of 14, which the company claims is more pure than any other natural spring water bottled in the country (for reference, Fiji Water has a TDS of approximately 210 according to cleanairpurewater.com).

But Human Kind is more than just clean water. They like to point out that what makes their company unique is that 100 percent of the net profits go toward the production of wells, filtration systems and even rain catching systems in some areas like Sub-Saharan Africa, and Haiti to help others around the world get clean drinking water.

Where do you come in? Human Kind Water is taking part in Wal-Mart’s “Get on the Shelf” campaign, or what many have described as an American-Idol like competition where whatever product gets the most votes will win a spot on Wal-Mart shelves nationwide. That could mean millions of dollars for the cause. People can vote once per day, and the first round ends in 12 days.
