Woman's Face Set on Fire in S. Philly

Woman left in serious condition

A woman was seriously hurt after someone splashed a flammable substance in her face and then set it ablaze.

It happened in South Philadelphia in the 800 block of 16th Street Friday morning, according to police.

Police are not sure what led to the alleged assault, but say they are searching for a female suspect.

Officials originally said gasoline was used as the accelerant to start the fire, but now they are unsure which substance was thrown on the woman.

The unidentified victim was rushed to the Burn Center at Temple University Hospital. She was last listed in serious condition, officials said.
