Man Steals Backpack, Laptop From Philly Univ. Classroom: Cops

Man walks into classroom, walks out with a backpack containing a laptop, cops say

Philadelphia Police are asking for the public’s help to track down a young man who they say took a woman’s backpack and purse from a Philadelphia University classroom.

The alleged theft happened around 8:45 p.m. on Feb. 23 at 4201 Henry Ave.

A man entered the classroom, took the backpack containing a silver Mac Book Pro and the purse and ran off, cops said.

The victim ran off after the suspect into a parking lot where he dumped the purse, authorities said.

Cops say he did make off with the laptop, though. The computer had an Apple sticker with the name “Samantha” on it.

The suspect was caught on surveillance video that police released Thursday in hopes of tracking him down.

Police describe him as a medium complexioned black male, 18 to 25 years old, with short hair about 5-feet-10 to 6-feet tall. He was wearing a black hoodie with “Philly” on it, black pants, black sneakers and a backpack.

Anyone with information about this incident should contact the Northwest Detective Division at 215-686-3353/3354, call in a tip to 215-686-8477 or submit an anonymous tip online.
