A Philadelphia woman has been sentenced to probation in the death of her son, who was fatally beaten by her then-boyfriend last year.
Daniela Gonzalez pleaded guilty to endangering the welfare of a child in the January 2011 death of her 3-year-old son, Jason.
Authorities say Gonzalez was using heroin the night Joseph Zysk fatally beat the boy because he wouldn't stop crying.
The Philadelphia Daily News reports Gonzalez repeatedly apologized during her court appearance Monday. Her attorney says she is pregnant again and has reunited with Jason's father.
Prosecutors say they would have sought jail time if Gonzalez wasn't pregnant.
Zysk is awaiting trial on charges including third-degree murder.
