Take the Bridge Over The Delaware River a Lot? You're Gonna Get a Break

By the end of the year, regular commuters on four Philadelphia-area bridges will get a price break.

The Delaware River Port Authority voted Wednesday to have a discount in place by Dec. 1.

Commuters who make at least 18 trips a month on the bridges will get monthly E-ZPass credits of $18 per.

The DRPA got rid of a similar program back in 2011 at the same time that the agency raised tolls to $5 from $4. Only Pennsylvania-bound vehicles pay.

Over the last several years, the agency has reduced costs and notably stopped funding non-transportation economic development projects such as ballparks and museums.

The DRPA says the discounts will cost about $6.4 million per year.
