Person of Interest Questioned in Cop Shooting

Man pointed gun at woman moments before shooting

Philadelphia police are questioning a man in connection with the shooting of police officer Ashley Hoggard.

On Sunday morning, the 26-year-old cop was shot in the shoulder outside a North Philadelphia bar while responding to reports of gunfire. Three others were also caught in the crossfire.

The person of interest, who's in custody now, could be facing assault and weapon charges for allegedly punching a woman -- believed to be his ex-girlfriend -- in the face and pointing a gun at her only a block from where the shooting took place, according to police.

The man has not been charged with the shooting the officer.

Police have confirmed that multiple people have been questioned regarding the shootings.

The officer remains in good condition at Temple University Hospital.
