Student Stabbed During Altercation at Middle School in Reading: Cops

It happened at the Wilson Southern Middle School on the 2800 block of Shillington Road.

Police say a student is in the hospital after a stabbing at a middle school in Sinking Spring.

It happened at the Wilson Southern Middle School on the 2800 block of Shillington Road. Police believe a male student was stabbed by another male student during some sort of altercation. One student is in police custody while another was taken to the hospital, according to investigators.

Police have not yet revealed the ages of the students involved or if a weapon was recovered.

The school initially went into lockdown as a code red alerted parents in the district. Police responded and the building was evacuated. The lockdown was then lifted so that police could sweep the inside of the school. Students at the school were then sent home to their parents.

The school sent out the following press release:

There was an incident at Wilson Southern Middle School this morning, January 15, 2013, involving two students.  A student was injured in an altercation.  The police are involved and the building is safe and secure.  We will send out future communications as needed.  Please be assured that the situation is under control and all students are safe and secure in their buildings. The area surrounding the school building has been swept by police and they are confident that this is an isolated incident.
