Patient Shot, Killed After Turning Knife on Hospital Workers: Police

Pennsylvania state police say a hospital patient was threatening workers with a knife and turned the weapon on responding officers, who shot and killed the man.

Trooper Robert Hicks says the ordeal started around 8 a.m. Thursday at Chambersburg Hospital, about 50 miles south of Harrisburg, where state police responded to reports of an armed patient threatening workers.

He says officers made several attempts to subdue the patient, who then threatened officers with the knife.

He says officers then shot and killed the man.

No one else was hurt.

The patient was not identified.

No other details were immediately available.
