Pennsauken Officer Shoots Man Allegedly Fleeing Traffic Stop

A Pennsauken police officer shot a man who allegedly tried to run away during a traffic stop Saturday, according to Camden County authorities.

It happened around 3 a.m. when Pennsauken officers stopped a car at 27th Street and Marlton Pike. Investigators say twenty-five –year-old Aaron McNeil, who was the front seat passenger, got out of the vehicle and ran from the officers.

One of the officers followed McNeil. Police say McNeil showed a handgun and the Pennsauken officer fired at him, striking McNeil in the right calf.

McNeil was treated and released from an area hospital then immediately taken into police custody.

Police say McNeil’s gun was recovered.

McNeil is charged with Aggravated Assault and weapons offenses.
