The Penn State Board of Trustees is postponing a public debate over the Freeh Report on the Jerry Sandusky child abuse scandal until later this fall.
The Harrisburg Patriot-News reports that the trustees discussed the issue for several hours Friday morning, and agreed to try and reach a joint statement this fall.
The trustees are divided over former FBI Director Louis Freeh's report on Penn State's handling of the Sandusky child sex abuse case. Freeh concluded that top officials covered up allegations against Sandusky for more than a decade to avoid bad publicity.
The report about Sandusky has been a lightning rod for criticism among alumni and fans.
Sandusky was convicted in 2012 of child sexual abuse and is serving a 30- to 60-year state prison sentence.
