Police Bust Man for Reselling Stolen Textbooks

Authorities say a man was arrested following a foot chase after stealing eight textbooks from the Penn State University bookstore and reselling them for $600.

The Centre Daily Times reports Marcus Melvin, 23, was arrested Sunday after a short foot chase in the Hetzel Union Building.

Investigators say a manager at the on-campus book store called police after seeing Melvin on surveillance footage carrying books out of the store. As the manager called, police say Melvin came back into the building.

Police say they arrested him and found $600 in his pocket. They believe he sold the books at two other bookstores -- the Got Used bookstore and the Student Bookstore.

Police say Melvin also swiped a USB thumb drive.

Melvin is being held on $5,000 bail on charges of retail theft and other counts. It could not immediately be determined if he had an attorney.
