Blake Shelton to Headline First Penn State Stadium Concert

Country music star Blake Shelton will headline the first concert at Penn State University's Beaver Stadium.

The football stadium opened in 1960 and has been expanded to 107,000 seats in recent years but has never hosted a non-Penn State event.

Penn State first announced plans for a concert at the team's Oct. 22 home upset over Ohio State. During Saturday night's 41-14 win over Iowa, the school revealed Shelton -- who also hosts NBC's hit show, The Voice -- as the headliner.

The concert will be held July 8 and is billed as the Happy Valley Jam.

Chris Young and the duo, Big & Rich, will also perform, with David Ray and Adley Stump opening the show.

The concert is being presented by Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics and Basics Entertainment, a concert promoter.

Tickets go on sale Nov. 16.
