Penn State Offers Incoming Freshmen Up to $20K Off Tuition to Attend Satellite Campuses

After an influx of applications from students hoping to attend Penn State University's main campus, the school is offering incoming freshmen an incentive to consider one of its satellite campuses that could save them thousands.

Hundreds more freshmen than expected accepted their offers to attend Penn State's main State College campus this year, so the university is offering a deal if some of them agree to move to one of the 18 other campuses throughout the state.

Students from Pennsylvania who opt in will receive $10,000 off tuition, and out-of-state students -- who pay a higher tuition rate -- will receive a discount of $15,000. Additionally, if freshmen stay at one of the four satellites with available housing, another $5,000 will come off the bill.

Some students have already hopped on the chance, which comes at a first-come, first-serve basis. Penn State guarantees students who want to move onto main campus in their sophomore year a spot.
