Despondent Man Struck Darting in & Out of Traffic

A very depressed man landed in the hospital after he was struck while darting in and out of traffic Tuesday night.

Gloucester Township Police say they were called to N Black Horse Pike (State Route 168) and Landing Road around 8:10 p.m. for the report of a person struck by a car..

When officers arrived they found Joseph Wilson, 32, of Pilesgrove, N.J. laying on the side of the road.

Wilson was rushed to the hospital with what police called non-life-threatening injuries.

An investigation revealed that Wilson was darting in and out of traffic, jumping in front of moving cars. After being hit by one car heading northbound, Wilson got back on his feet and jumped in front of a car heading southbound, according to township police.

The second collision launched Wilson several feet into the air, police said.

No one inside either car was hurt and no driving citations were issued.

Police said that Wilson was despondent at the time of the incident.
