Delaware State Police say a man was killed when he was trying to cross Kirkwood Highway in Wilmington and was hit by a minivan.
The agency said in a news release that the crash happened just before noon Tuesday. Troopers say the 47-year-old man was walking in a marked crosswalk near Limestone Road against the traffic signal when he was hit by a minivan.
Police say the impact threw the pedestrian several feet on the road. He was pronounced dead at a hospital; troopers say he will not be identified until relatives are notified.
Authorities say the driver of the minivan, 57-year-old Phillip Perkins of Middletown, was not hurt.
The incident is under investigation.
