Pedestrian Hit By Police Car

Woman in stable condition after being hit by police car early Sunday

Two Philadelphia police officers, who were responding to a call of a shooting in Germantown, hit a female pedestrian at Broad and Girard Avenue.

The accident happened just before 2 a.m. on Sunday.

The 26-year-old woman was running to board a stopped Septa bus when she was hit, according to police.

The officer steered to the left in an attempt to avoid hitting the woman, and mounted a center median. The police car caught fire, but officers were able to safely exit, authorities said.

The young woman is in stable condition at Hahnemann Hospital.

The two officers were also taken to Hahnemann and were treated and released.
