Paterno Service for Sale

Proceeds of DVD will to go to charity

The family of former Penn State football coach Joe Paterno is planning to sell copies of his memorial service. Proceeds will go to charity.

Paterno was laid to rest last week after a battle with lung cancer.  His funeral was private, but the public memorial on Jan. 26 drew about 12-thousand people to a campus arena.

The Paterno family says it will soon launch a website where DVDs of the memorial service will be sold.

A statement from son Scott Paterno says a number of media outlets have expressed an interest in selling the DVDs.

Paterno died Jan. 22, about two months after he was fired from Penn State in the wake of a child sex abuse scandal involving former assistant coach Jerry Sandusky.

Paterno was not charged.
