Passed Out Teen Raped at Party: Cops

A Philadelphia man was ordered to stand trial on charges he sexually assaulted a teen aged girl while she was intoxicated and unconscious.

NBC10 was the only television station there when Markley Charles, 24, appeared in Montgomery County court on Wednesday and was ordered to stand trial on rape charges.

Charles, of Philadelphia, is charged with the rape and sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl at an underage drinking party at the Blair Mill East Apartments in Upper Moreland on Feb. 26.

Prosecutors tell NBC10 that the teen was at a party in an apartment and became so intoxicated she was asked to leave.

Witnesses testified in court that a group of people, including Charles, carried the unconscious teen to another vacant apartment in the complex where another party was taking place. One witness told the court he saw Charles taking advantage of the teen, who was passed out on a bedroom floor.

Police say they became aware of the party and sexual assault when the teen's mother called to report her missing.

Investigators are not saying what led them to the vacant apartment, but say they found the teen alone and unconscious.

The teen was taken to the hospital and investigators tell NBC10 she does not remember the assault.
