Pa.'s Largest Labor Union Endorses Wolf

Pennsylvania's largest labor organization is endorsing the Democratic ticket for governor.

The Pennsylvania AFL-CIO's executive council voted Thursday to support Tom Wolf and his running mate, state Sen. Mike Stack. They are challenging Republican Gov. Tom Corbett and Lt. Gov. Jim Cawley in the Nov. 4 general election.

The Pennsylvania AFL-CIO represents about 800,000 union workers.

Its president, Rick Bloomingdale, says Wolf will provide a new direction in Pennsylvania in which workers will be part of the solution and not the cause of a problem.

Last month, Wolf was endorsed by the Pennsylvania State Education Association, the state's largest teacher union.

Corbett also is courting support from organized labor. He's been endorsed by the Laborers' District Council of Western Pennsylvania and Boilermakers Local 154.
