Parents Complain About Late School Buses in Philly

Some Philadelphia parents say they are fed up with the bus company contracted to take their children to school, according to the Philadelphia Daily News.

Parents complain the drivers are  "often late and sometimes don’t show up at all," according to the paper.

They voiced their frustrations Wednesday night before the School Reform Commission. It was the second time this week.

Among the complaints, parents say their children are frequently dropped off at the wrong bus stop , according to the report.

One parent testified, she’d even had to leave her job to pick up stranded children.

Philadelphia Schools Superintendent, Arlene Ackerman says, “I heard this over and over and over again from parents.” She says her office is paying close attention to these bus routes, and that she will intervene.

The district’s transportation administrator, John Lombardi, is investigating. He says the bus company, Durham School Service, is aware of the issues and that they are promising to revise the bus routes, as early as Monday.
