Pa. Vet Pleads Guilty to Killing Pregnant Mistress

Plea helps Montgomery Co. man avoid the death penalty

A Montgomery County veterinarian has admitted killing his pregnant lover and dumping her body in an eastern Pennsylvania nature preserve.

David Rapoport, 31, of Upper Gwynedd Township pleaded guilty Thursday in Lehigh County Court to two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of 27-year-old Jennifer Snyder and their unborn baby.

Rapoport acknowledged that he would spend the rest of his life in prison, officials said.

Snyder's body was found in March in a ravine in Trexler Nature Preserve near Allentown.

Prosecutors say the married Rapoport was furious over Snyder's pregnancy and shot her three times -- twice in the mouth and once in the back. She was in her first trimester and expecting a boy.

Rapoport worked as a veterinarian at the Harleysville Veterinary Hospital.

He apologized to Snyder’s family and his family during in court Thursday.

“Every moment of every day, I ask myself why,” he said.

Rapoport was sentenced to two terms of life in prison. His guilty plea allowed him to avoid the death penalty, which the district attorney had planned to seek.
