Pa. Town May Be the “Coolest”

Local town a top contender for "America's Coolest Towns" contest.

Newtown, Pa., is among the 20 finalists in Budget Travel’s “America’s Coolest Small Towns" contest, and with a surge of local votes, it could soon be the winner.
Newtown is the only small town in Pennsylvania to make the finals, and one of only four small towns in the Northeast to make the cut. The other Northeastern contenders are Phoenicia, N.Y.; Clayton, N.Y.; and Wiscasset, Maine.

“Newtown has become such a vibrant happening place to be over the last few years with all kinds of new restaurants, bars and shopping -- including its own ‘down town’ ski shop and skate park,” says resident Courtney Lang, who moved away to Ohio for college but came back home to live.

“Newtown is such a great place and it would be so awesome to bring such an amazing title to our historic Philadelphia area,” Lang says.

You can cast your vote for the local town here until the “polls” close on Feb. 11.

The top towns will be featured in the September 2011 issue of Budget Travel magazine.
