Texas Man Arrested for 45-Year-Old Murder of Pa. Employee

State police in Pennsylvania say a Texas man has been arrested in the 1968 slaying of a Bethlehem Steel employee.

Cpl. Tom McAndrew says 67-year-old Richard Keiper of Boyd was arrested Thursday and will be returned to the commonwealth to face homicide charges in the death of Alfred Barnes.

Barnes was an assistant to the vice president at Bethlehem Steel. Hunters in Monroe County found his body in a Chestnuthill Township field on Oct. 19, 1968. He had been shot multiple times.

McAndrew says police recently took another look at the cold case and zeroed in on Keiper, who was arrested without incident at his job at a wastewater treatment plant.

McAndrew alleges that Keiper, who doesn't yet have an attorney, incriminated himself when he was interviewed by Texas Rangers.
