Pennsylvania House Democrats say the transportation funding plan approved by the Transportation Committee provides far less new money for mass-transit agencies than the plan's GOP architects promised. Republicans say it's an innocent error they're correcting.
Leaders of the Democratic minority Friday released an analysis showing the plan would increase spending for public transportation by only $187 million, instead of the $312 million the committee indicated when it approved the plan Thursday.
Democrats say most of the difference can be traced to what was supposed to be technical amendment. They say it repealed a provision that earmarks a fraction of the state sales tax to help transit agencies cover their bond debt.
House Republican spokesman Steve Miskin says the change was unintentional and will be corrected.
