Pa. House Honors Little League Team With Taney Dragons Week

State representative Brian Sims (D-Phila.) won unanimous approval from the Pa. House for his resolution designating September 14 through September 20 as Taney Dragons Week in Pennsylvania.

They’ve already received an extravagant parade through the streets of Center City. Now the beloved Taney Dragons can add their own week to their list of honors.

State representative Brian Sims (D-Phila.) won unanimous approval from the Pa. House for his resolution designating September 14 through September 20 as Taney Dragons Week in Pennsylvania.

"I'm proud that this team is based in my district, that the entire city adopted them as its own, and that as the Little League Pennsylvania champions, the Taney Dragons have made all of Pennsylvania proud," Sims said.

The resolution honors the players, coaches, volunteers and sponsors of the team as well as the Taney Youth Baseball Association.

"We all should feel proud with Taney’s Mo’ne Davis appearance on the cover of Sports Illustrated," Sims said. "More importantly, the team has earned the honor of recognition by the House with its achievements on the field at the Little League World Series and as champions for the Mid-Atlantic, for all of Pennsylvania, for Pennsylvania’s Section 8."

The Taney Dragons represented the Mid-Atlantic region in the Little League World Series, and 13-year-old Mo'ne Davis captivated fans and became the first female pitcher to win a game in the series' 68-year history.

The team was eliminated from the series a game short of the United States championship game.
