Utility Worker Impostor Assaults Woman: Cops

Man in PSE&G shirt enters home and allegedly sexually assaults woman

A man apparently posing as a PSE&G worker allegedly sexually assaulted a Mercerville, N.J. woman in her home Friday.

It happened just before noon in the Five Points neighborhood, according to Hamilton Police.

A man, in what was described as a brown short sleeve work shirt with a PSE&G logo on it and beige shorts, allegedly knocked on a woman’s door and told her he was there to read the gas meter, cops said.

The guy spoke in a British accent and had a photo ID card clipped to his shirt, the woman told police.

Once the man was inside the woman’s home he allegedly sexually assaulted her, cops said.

The suspect eventually left and drove off in a blue Ford Taurus with tinted windows, police said.

The suspect is described as a muscular white male, 6-foot-3 to 6-foot-4, weighing about 200 to 250 pounds with collar-length blond hair and a multicolored tattoo on his right forearm.

Police are asking residents in the area to use caution when utility workers come to the door. PSE&G can be reached at 1-800-436-7734 to verify if a worker is legit.
