A woman sitting on her porch in the Kingsessing neighborhood was shot and killed on Saturday. But police say her son may have been the intended target.
The shooting happened shortly before noon, on the 5200 block of Reinhart Street. A fight broke out between a group of girls and the victim's son, who is in his 20's, allegedly tried to intervene, according to the Inquirer.
A gunman returned to the house and opened fire on a group of people sitting on the victim's steps, reports the paper. The 39-year-old victim was sitting next to her son when she was hit in her side. She was pronounced dead at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania hours later.
Police have arrested one suspect and are looking for a second.
