According to authorities, patrons complained about the man smoking inside the bar, and he was asked to leave. Smoking is illegal inside Philadelphia bars.

Police said the man returned with two others and opened fire inside the bar. The victim who died, 44-year-old Carl Sharper, was shot once in the head, police said.

"I am numb, not because I'm angry, but I still can't believe it," said Drexie Charles, Sharper's fiance.

Sharper had been visiting with cousins last night and stopped at the tavern for a bite to eat.

"For me to think that he died because of someone smoking a cigarette is so hard."

Five other victims, both men and women, whose ages range from 20 to 44 years old suffered gunshot wounds and remain hospitalized.

One victim, a 44-year-old woman, was shot multiple times in the abdomen.  She is in critical condition at Temple Hospital.

Police described the suspect as a black male with a light complexion, bald, around 5 feet 10. Police say he was in his 30s and that he has a Caribbean accent. He was last seen wearing a tan plaid short sleeve button down and tan pants.

Authorities have not made any arrests yet in the case. If you have any information or see this man, call 9-1-1 immediately.
