Falling Steel Injures Teen on Wildwood Ride

Paramedics transported a 13-year-old boy to the hospital on Friday evening after a piece of steel on a Jersey Shore amusement park ride detached and fell.

The incident happened around 9:15 p.m. at Morey's Piers, on the Wildwood beachfront.  While the Sea Dragon amusement ride was in motion, a piece of the ride's scenery fell off.  That piece, made out of steel, struck at least one rider, according to Morey's Piers management.

Several riders were treated following the accident, and one was transported.

Morey's Piers was the site of a fatal accident this June, when a girl on a school trip fell out of the park's Ferris wheel.  Eleven-year-old Abiah Jones was riding the Giant Wheel alone when she fell out of a gondola to her death.
