Child Shoots Himself at Rec Center

A child is in the hospital on Saturday after shooting himself with a gun.

Police said the shot was fired at a Philadelphia recreation center.  They are unsure where the firearm came from.

According to authorities, an 11-year-old boy shot himself around 11:52 a.m.  The shooting happened at the Vare recreation center, at the intersection of 26th Street and Morris.

The child was struck in the leg.  He was transported to Children's Hospital, where he is in stable condition.
